Professor Peters helps direct the department's Teaching of History Program. She teaches History 420, a methods course for teaching the social sciences, and History 475/476, the educational practicum course for student teachers. She is the adviser for undergraduate teaching of history students and an active participant in a number of grants and committees dedicated to improving teaching in the secondary schools.
Professor Peters was a contributing editor to the Teacher's Curriculum Institute's History Alive! The United States, and she has written ancillary materials for World Geography, published by General Learning Communications.
